Youth activities

In 2025, Diabetes SA is evolving its approach to youth engagement and support. We are excited to introduce a refreshed program of day-based activities designed to continue fostering connection, confidence, and diabetes self-management skills in young people.

Our new program provides a safe and supportive environment where children and teens living with type 1 diabetes can learn, grow, and connect with their peers without the need for overnight stays. These activities are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and age-appropriate, ensuring every participant feels welcome and supported.

Our new program reflects our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our community. Day activities allow us to:

  • Reach more families and young people
  • Reduce barriers to participation, including overnight stays
  • Focus on inclusive, accessible, and age-appropriate diabetes education and peer support
  • Support whole-family learning and shared diabetes management

Real Stories from Our Community

“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone involved on Saturday’s Senior Activity Day. Jacob had such a great time and loved reconnecting with some of the kids he has met over the years. It’s so nice they could get together and remember that they’re not alone. We are very grateful!! Please pass on my thanks to the team.”

Our Day Activities for 2025, held in April and May, were a great success, please stay tuned for our 2026 program.
