Investing in research is a critical approach that enables Diabetes SA to address South Australia’s diabetes challenges.
Diabetes SA has supported research into diabetes almost since our inception.
The Association maintains a dedicated Research Fund that is made possible from the generous support of our Members, donors and individuals who have left a legacy to the Association.
In addition, over the past five years our internal Research team have developed many strategic research partnerships that have not only worked collaboratively with to drive and deliver meaningful change to reduce the risk and impact of diabetes in our community, but they have also funded key areas of our research.
With the research funding that Association receives we support diabetes research in two ways:
- Through the Diabetes SA Research Grants Program, we provide grants to researchers from across Australia to support innovative diabetes research projects that challenge current paradigms.
- Our internal Research Team work collaboratively with our strategic research partnerships to conduct community led research focusing on Prevention, Detection and Management of diabetes. These research activities ensure that new approaches and ideas with a strong evidence base are incorporated into the program and service the Diabetes SA Health Service Team deliver, enabling us to improve the health and wellbeing of people living with or at risk of diabetes.
