If you have been diagnosed with Diabetes the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS) run by The Australian Government is committed to helping people with diabetes and their families live well.
Diabetes SA is proudly the health professional organisation who provides the face to face and online programs for South Australians.
Diabetes SA strongly encourages those living with Diabetes to register and participate in the fantastic programs delivered right across SA, regional, remote, metropolitan and peri-urban locations near you!
Are you registered with the NDSS?
Being registered with the NDSS means you get more than just product discounts—you get free access to diabetes education programs!
Diabetes SA delivers the NDSS education and fitness programs for South Australians.
This includes:
Online Learning: 24/7 self-paced education modules you can do anytime, anywhere.
DESMOND: A full day introduction to diabetes program (covers essentials if newly diagnosed).
LIVING WELL: Half day workshops with topics that change each year (nutrition, movement, managing stress, etc).
BEAT IT: 8-week movement and lifestyle program designed to help you live well with diabetes.
CONTINUOUS GLUCOSE MONITORS subsidised for people living with type 1 diabetes.
Registration only needs to happen once by completing the following steps:
1. Completing this FORM
2. Have the form signed by your General Practitioner or by a Credentialled Diabetes Educator or practice nurse with appropriate registration
3. Email the form to info@ndss.com.au
If you’re living with diabetes, ask your GP if you’re eligible for a Chronic Condition Management Plan.
It can give you access to:
5 subsidised visits per year with Allied Health professionals (dietitian, physiotherapist, podiatrist, psychologist and Diabetes Educators and Medicare will pay $63.40 of the cost)
8 Medicare subsidised group sessions per year for those living with type 2Â diabetes.
Regular GP and Practice Nurse check-ins: including annual Diabetes Cycle of Care, Kidney health checks and 75+ Annual Health Assessment (if eligible)
You can also receive a free diabetes MedsCheck with your local pharmacist every year to help you understand more about your medicines.
Being registered with the NDSS doesn’t automatically make you a Diabetes SA Member. As a Diabetes SA Member, you’ll enjoy additional local support and exclusive discounts and services available only in South Australia.
Diabetes SA Membership ($59 or concession $38/year) provides you ongoing support and exclusive access to:
Online Education: Access to pre-recorded and live education sessions beyond NDSS programs
