Diabetes SA Heads to Tunarama Festival 2026 in Port Lincoln

Diabetes SA is excited to announce that we will be attending the Bendigo Bank Tunarama Festival 2026 for the very first time! Set against the stunning backdrop of Port Lincoln, the festival celebrates the city’s reputation as the Seafood Capital of Australia and promises a weekend full of fun, food, and community spirit.

Event Details
📅 January 16th–18th, 2026
📍 Port Lincoln Foreshore
🕓 Diabetes SA tent in Market Lane: Friday: 4–6pm and Saturday & Sunday: 10am–6pm

For Diabetes SA, attending Tunarama means more than enjoying the festivities. It gives us the chance to offer screening and testing for type 2 diabetes in high-risk populations, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and people from culturally diverse backgrounds, all in a convenient and relaxed setting.

“Attending community events like Tunarama allows Diabetes SA to connect with people in a comfortable, approachable environment,” says Amy, Accredited Practicing Dietitian at Diabetes SA.

“We can provide screening, share practical advice, and discuss strategies to reduce risk — all while people enjoy the festival atmosphere.”

Our friendly health services team will be available to answer your questions about the risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes and ways to reduce your risk. Free type 2 diabetes screening will be offered for people from our Aboriginal and multicultural communities.

There will also be prize draws each day for anyone who participates in screening and engages with our friendly health services team. We can’t wait to meet festival-goers, share our knowledge, and have some fun at Port Lincoln’s biggest celebration of seafood, culture, and community.

This important community engagement is made possible thanks to a grant from Preventative Health SA and the support of volunteers from the local Lions Club.
