Christine Bell appointed as the new President of the Board

Diabetes SA is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine Bell as the new President of the Board.

With a career dedicated to working alongside some of South Australia’s most vulnerable community members, Christine has witnessed firsthand the serious impact that poor diabetes management can have on individuals and families. This experience underpins a deep belief in the importance of education and accessible information in improving diabetes outcomes and is the foundation for her commitment to advancing Diabetes SA’s mission and strengthening its support for South Australians living with or at risk of diabetes.

Diabetes CEO Catherine Hughes said, “Christine has worked across both the for-profit, government and not-for-profit sectors in community services, aged care, and housing support. She also brings expertise in strategic planning, governance, and business development. Christine has been the Chair of the St John’s Youth Service and Strategy and Engagement Lead for Adelaide PHN for the last 4 years, which culminates in experience that is an enormous benefit to Diabetes SA”.

Christine has previously served as a Board Member from October 2020 to May 2023.

“Diabetes SA has a proud history of empowering people through education, advocacy and community connection,” Christine said. “I look forward to working with the Board, our new CEO and the Diabetes SA team to continue delivering positive outcomes for our community.”

The entire team at Diabetes SA thanks David Scotland for his enormous contribution as the outgoing President and values his continuation as the Vice President of Diabetes SA for the next three years.
