Seniors Day 2026 Monarto Zoo lions 360 Experience

Let’s talk about this years Seniors Day!

Seniors Day happened during June, where 12 young “seniors” aged 12 – 14 living with type 1 diabetes, jumped in on a fun filled day trip to Monarto Safari Park.

Together they conquered the playground, explored the zoo, and got up close to the lions at the Lions 360 Experience, where the Lions would interrupt all our conversations in hope to be fed more meat! Meanwhile, lunch for the young people was a nutritious and delicious assortment of healthy wraps, sandwiches and fruit.

One of our happy attendees said “It was wonderful coming together with others experiencing similar things” while they shared lived experiences, tips and tricks amongst one another.

Our Health Services team of Accredited Dietitians, Diabetes Educators, Registered Nurses and our Exercise Physiologist were there to answer lots of questions that came up about living with diabetes throughout the day.

Diabetes SA are proud to bring to life these fully funded NDSS community days, to help bring together and support those living with diabetes. Fun filled days like these make a huge impact and remind the young seniors that they aren’t alone.
