Future of Diabetes SA lotteries
For a very long time Diabetes SA has run lotteries to support the delivery of education programs and services to people with diabetes in South Australia.
However, over the last few years with external market pressures from other lotteries it has become more and more difficult to raise funds.
Considering our results, we took a decision to review the lottery program moving away from printed books as the cost to print and post was becoming expensive and utilised a different approach by outsourcing the lottery program to a charitable partner. In addition to this we also changed our ticket price hoping that all these changes would refresh the lottery program and have a positive impact on income.
It would be fair to say that these changes did not see the expected increase in income and as a result we have taken the decision to cease our lottery program.
Without the generous support of our members and donors through our fundraising campaigns such as appeals, we would not be able to invest in these pivotal programs that will impact and change the lives of people living with or at risk of diabetes.
Our focus now will turn to developing other income generation areas in particular our appeals program that supports key projects and initiatives such as funding the Diabetes SA Research Grants Program and the development of detection and prevention programs.
It is of the utmost importance that Diabetes SA can still receive your generous support in the future.
We hope we can count on your support in the future.
