A powerful way to help reduce the impact of diabetes is to raise awareness – in our community, our state and all around Australia.
Every year, Diabetes SA presents, promotes and participates in awareness campaigns on diabetes.
We invite your involvement in the latest upcoming campaigns.
National Diabetes Week 2019

National Diabetes Week Seminar
Additionally, this year’s NDW seminar takes a look at three vital organs that can be affected by diabetes: eyes, kidneys and the heart. The seminar offers an opportunity for people living with diabetes and their families to learn from the experts working in these fields with a focus on how to prevent complications as well as the latest treatments available.
A prescription for your health and wellbeing
Prescription for your health and wellbeing involves planning for one’s own health and wellbeing, this may include setting individual goals and having clear and concise conversations that embrace an individual’s own health beliefs and values for optimal self-management.
The key messages for this year’s campaign include:
- Knowing that diabetes self-management can be complex and the importance of understanding what checks are required, when and why.
- Improving communication between health professionals and people living with diabetes to be engaging and supportive.
- Understanding that knowledge can empower people living with diabetes to be confident in their choices and support.
- Raising awareness of a person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes through promotion of the Australian Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment (AUSDRISK) Tool.
