Project Officer Diabetes Prevention
Tom is a Project Officer (Diabetes Prevention) in the Research and Service Development team at Diabetes SA. With the team, he is working to implement a trial of a diabetes prevention program for people who are at high risk of developing type two diabetes.
In 2009 he completed an Honours degree in Psychology and in 2013, he completed a Masters degree in Organisational Psychology. His honours thesis was about the effects of sleep disruption on cognitive performance and his masters thesis, also sleep related, was focused on how shiftwork can affect sleep patterns.
Tom is interested in human health – especially anything related to sleep but also diet, exercise and ways people can live healthier lives. In 2015, Tom began a PhD thesis investigating the effects of sleeping less on type 2 diabetes.
His spare time is dedicated to working on his PhD thesis and spending time with his girlfriend and their dog.
