"That Diabetes” Tackling it Together

"That Diabetes" Tackling It Together is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander documentary that was produced by Blackfella Films Pty Ltd. The aim of the project was to visually present the harshness, beauty and remoteness of the Australian landscape and to highlight in a culturally sensitive way the difficulties faced by many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in relation to diabetes.

Having A Healthy Baby

This DVD explains the importance of planning a pregnancy for women with diabetes. The DVD offers two menu options: type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes. For each menu option, there are stories from women with diabetes who are planning a pregnancy, are pregnant or who have already had healthy babies, as well as comments from health professionals.

Understanding Gestational Diabetes

Understanding Gestational Diabetes is a multilingual DVD that explains to women and their families how to manage gestational diabetes and what to do once the baby is born. In this documentary-style film, women who have had this condition during pregnancy talk positively about their experiences. It is intended that this DVD will give viewers a better understanding of gestational diabetes.

This DVD has recently been updated as a two disc set DVD with the option of selecting from 11 different languages:

• Disc one includes updated information in English and five additional languages including Bengali, Farsi, Khmer, Punjabi and Urdu.
• Disc two includes the pre-existing Understanding Gestational Diabetes DVD in Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Turkish and Vietnamese.
