Awareness Campaigns

With the onset of diabetes at epidemic proportions, Diabetes SA is committed to developing awareness campaigns for the prevention and management of diabetes. Our aim over the coming years will to build on these campaigns and focus on key areas, building greater awareness in the community.

Our Awareness Campaigns:

DIABETES. DO YOU KNOW? type 1 & type 2 : There is a difference

Diabetes is Australia's fastest growing chronic disease. Approximately 275 Australians develop diabetes every day, yet many people remain unaware or misinformed about diabetes.

Diabetes. What do you know? campaign focused on the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Currently there is a large misunderstanding in the community regarding the difference between type 1 and type 2 diabetes and this campaigns aim is to help alleviate some of the confusion.

DIABETES. DID YOU KNOW? Diabetes is the leading cause of Kidney Disease in Australia

Whilst kidney disease is not a common known risk factor for people with diabetes, did you know that people with diabetes are 3 times more likely to develop kidney damage and that diabetes is the leading cause of kidney damage in Australia. Unfortunately, diabetic kidney disease often has no symptoms or signs until it is well advanced.

The key messages
