Pre-diabetes is often called Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) or Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG). It is the stage leading to type 2 diabetes. It occurs when the blood glucose level is higher than normal, but not high enough for a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes.
People with pre diabetes have a 1 in 3 chance of developing type 2 diabetes within 5-10 years, but this can be prevented or delayed through healthy eating and physical activity. Come and join our diabetes educators and dietition to learn how you can manage pre diabetes.
Who should attend:
- Anyone who has been diagnosed with impaired glucose levels or borderline diabetes
- Anyone with a family history of diabetes
- Anyone who is overweight and over 45years
- Carers of anyone with impaired glucose levels
