Clothing Collections, its all in the numbers...
Our Clothing Collection trucks sure do put in the kilometers, over a 3 month period at the start of this year we travelled 31,286km in our vehicles.
To put that into perspective, mainland Australian National Highway One is 14,523km long, so we have managed to circle the Australian mainland twice!

Dark Blue Collection Bags
Due to a recent bag shortage some bags were printed in Victoria and the colour has been done incorrectly by the supplier. As a consequence the result is a darker blue than normal so this notice is to advise that these bags are Diabetes SA donation bags and will be collected as per normal by our trucks.
This short term stock will be used up by mid January and then our standard blue bag will return.

Diabetes SA visit Mt Gambier with great results!
During the week commencing 31st October Diabetes SA ventured into unchartered territory with a collection in Mount Gambier. The organisation has always been looking for an opportunity to visit larger regional centres but has always had problems finding a way to store stock and transport back to Adelaide in a cost efficient way. As a result a large 13 tonne and 8 tonne truck was supplied by Hertz which along with one of our company trucks made the trip to Mount Gambier.
Blue bags were distributed to the local residents the week before the collection and also an editorial featured in The Border local newspaper explaining to residents about the work done by Diabetes SA for those living with diabetes in SA and how donations would help the organisation.
The result from the collection was beyond our wildest dreams with a whopping 2308 bags collected during the five day visit. The picture below shows just one full truck which illustrates the wonderful support shown by the people of Mount Gambier.
Diabetes SA would like to thank all the people of Mount Gambier for supporting Diabetes SA and making this our biggest collection yet. We will be back in 2012.
